About Before and After Care

The Clark Public Schools Before and After School Child Care program is being provided in your child’s elementary school. Our program provides children with opportunities for growth and development outside of their school day through activities that are child-centered and fun! We provide a safe, encouraging environment, which promotes children’s creativity, positive self-esteem and image all the while teaching life skills, teamwork and supplying educational support.

GETTING REGISTERED
The registration forms can be found at www.clarkschools.org under the tab Departments. All registration paperwork and your first and last months’ payment must be received by Friday, August 23 in order to guarantee a start date on the first day of school. Please send your paperwork and payment to Clark BOE, 365 Westfield Ave., Clark, NJ 07066, Attention BC/AC. You may also bring it to the BOE Office located at the high school during the summer months only (from 6/20 until 8/23). After August 23, please email mchesney@clarkschools.org for drop-off instructions.
OUR STAFF
Our staff members are experienced and trained in the Before and After Care standards. Staff members meet the State of New Jersey fingerprint process for screening of employment in the public schools and references are extensively checked for all employees. Homework assistance will be provided to students in the Before and After School Child Care Programs.
HOURS
The Before School Child Care program starts at 7:00 am and runs until the beginning of the school day. The After Care program runs until 6:00 pm. A late pickup fee of $10 per child is charged for each 10 minutes or part thereof for parents arriving after scheduled time of child pickup. This will be added to the following month's bill.
SNACKS
Before care does not offer breakfast however your child may bring their breakfast from home. Keep in mind this is a nut free program! In the afternoon we offer nut free snacks to the students. You may also send drinks and nut free snacks with your children for After Care.
SCHOOL CLOSING – HALF DAYS – DELAYED OPENINGS - EARLY DISMISSAL
The Before and After School Child Care programs are offered from the hours of 7:00 am to 6:00 pm. On days school is closed, there will be NO Before and After Care. (i.e. holidays, spring break, snow days, etc. ) On scheduled early dismissal days, there will be After Care until 6:00 pm. In the event of a delayed opening, Before Care will NOT be offered. On days with an unplanned early dismissal, (i.e., snow days, etc.) After school care will be available until 3:15 pm.
The Clark Public Schools will be using the SchoolMessenger program to notify you of any changes in the status of the school day. We will be using this system in the event of an actual emergency as well as school closings, delays, and early dismissals. Since this system “speaks” directly with our Genesis student information system, it is important that you keep your contact information within Genesis updated in order to receive our communications.
